MOTONOMAD III – WEEK 1, CHILE

Our South American adventure has begun in the city of Santiago, Chile. 5-days in and we’ve pushed deep into the Atacama desert. The nights are bitterly cold and the days fluctuate between hot and chilly as we ascend and descend the epic foothills of the Andes. We’ve managed to acquire some of the Dakar routes from past events and have navigated our way through the “Sea of Dunes” outside Capiapo. They are over 1000 metres high, winding through the Atacama and into the Andes.

We have not showered for 5-days, but will make our first hotel stop in San Pedro near the Bolivian border. A couple of days acclimatising to altitude there and we will cross the Andes into Bolivia.
